Nashville Meets London
Nashvillemeetslondon , August 18, 2016
The inaugural Nashville Meets London in the surroundings of Canary Wharf in August brought together and excellently chosen roster by Beylen Leonard of established UK acts and those from Nashville.
Fast moving and paced sets gave a snapshot of superb skills and stagecraft. Headliners Ty Herndon and Logan Brill demonstrated the gap between road tested bands that ship multimillions of units and those that will soon challenge them. Particularly strong sets from Logan Mize, American Young and the York based Pauper Kings won the family crowd over.
Event co-producer, Peter Conway commented saying, “While we were confident going into this event and what we could expect, never did we imagine the kind of response we had.”
The 2-day event showcased established artists and exciting new talent, and included four acts representing the United States and six acts representing the United Kingdom. From the United States were American Young, Logan Brill, Ty Herndon, and Logan Mize, and representing the United Kingdom were Yola Carter, Megan O’Neill, Pauper Kings,Hannah Rose Platt, and William the Conqueror.
Big Yellow Dog Music artist and festival performer, Logan Mize commented saying, “It was one of the most well organized festivals I’ve ever played; great production, great sound, great setting, and great people to work with. I’m waiting for another call to do it again.”
Canada Square Park, located in the heart of Canary Wharf and surrounded by award-winning gardens and over 300 shops, bars and restaurants, filled with fans who were actively engaged in the show – singing, dancing and many baring Country-lifestyle attire. Canary Wharf is located in the former London Docklands. For the past ten years, Canary Wharf has hosted the Canary Wharf Jazz Festival, which is the largest free jazz festival in the UK, and has a long history of promoting arts and culture throughout its estate.
Nashville Meets London is co-produced by Canary Wharf Arts + Events, Peter Conway Management and Nashville-based agency, The AristoMedia Group. Baylen Leonard (BBC Radio 2 Country DJ), is the artistic program consultant.
The event was free and open to the public. Words from Maverick
